Catching up

Yes, I have been delinquent about blogging this year. I'm hoping to get better about it. It will take more than one blog entry to catch up and not be too boring about it. In February I decided to make it a repair and painting project month. At that time plans were being made for my youngest daughter to be married and out of town family members were going to be staying at my house for the weekend. Well, as we all know, things happened between February and April 4th to prevent that from happening. It did get me inspired to clean up my house and work on some projects that I might otherwise have continued to procrastinate. One was my staircase to the upstairs bedrooms.

It really turned out well. Many hours of work went into this project but I'm well pleased with the end look. It's way better than it looked in the before picture.

The ugly hole in the ceiling that give access to the plumbing has now been covered with an easy access panel in case the plumbing needs to be worked on again. Maybe some time in the future I'll have it professionally repaired. For now it will be just fine.

Life goes on at the Urban Ranch (my home) and at Terra Nova Gardens. Because of family issues the last couple years gardening has not been a priority. Terra Nova Gardens is in terrible disarray. I have to materials to make it better and now I have the time. So far Nebraska has not been completely locked down and travel to and from Terra Nova Gardens which is about nine miles away has not been prevented. Social distancing has been strongly suggested and most businesses where people gather socially have been closed. Schools are most likely closed to the rest of this school year.

This is just a short note to let you know that I'm still alive and well. No coronavirus here.

  1. So much of the world has changed in such a short period of time; it's hard to grasp. That's why it's nice to see a small piece of normalcy. Your home projects are looking good. Thanks for sharing, and best of luck with the gardening.

  2. Love the way the staircase looks! Thanks for checking in. Stay well, Dave.

  3. Glad to hear you are well. Thanks for checking out my garden. Glad to have my space to get away from all the news and worry of this time. The stairway looks good! We have an indoor project that is dragging on a bit. Hope to get a lot of it done with more time at home.
